DCM awarded to Sgt.F.Gannon with 1/Bn.Kings Liverpool Regt.

He then gave a very accurate covering fire with rifle grenades, and enabled these troops to drive back the enemy another 100 yards. He was always to be found where the fighting was hottest and his bold and skilful use of rifle grenades many times relieved a critical situation." All the typed bulletins are housed within a cover with title "THE BIRTH AND LIFE OF THE GRIFFIN", and come in an envelope dated 1953 and named to a C.F.Goodler. The bulletins concentrate on up-to-date war news, and occasional bulletins have 'Stop Press' headings with news such as, "Kharkov Recaptured" (ending "The Griffin" is again hours ahead of the rest). RAF FIGHTER SQUADRON BADGES

price: SOLD
This collection of eight RAF fighter squadron badges are struck in Sterling silver and fire gold plated leaving a wonderful frosted gold finish, which has been polished to the highlights. The enamel discs are of the highest quality possible, and are free from any blemishes to the white centres. Much of the enamel work is transluscent fired on an engine turned base in the same method as utilised by Fabergé. The reverse of each badge is fully hallmarked but shows no evidence of pin fittings. Unfortunately it has not been possible to find out if these were made pre-1945 or post 1945 as a commemorative, however they do bear natural patina and must be a few decades old at least. The breathtaking quality of each badge would make it a wonderful addition to anyone with a pation for our fighter squadrons. Size of each badge approximately 2" x 1½".

Lieutenant Peter James Kisby - Seaforth Highlanders / Malayan Emergency Group
Price: SOLD
An extremely interesting group of medals along with personal effects and newspaper cuttings to Lieutenant Peter James Kisby. Includes his British War Medal, Military General service Medal with 'Malaya' clasp and Nigerian Independance Medal. Also includes his tunic ribbon bar, identity bracelet, two newpaper cuttings with portraits dating from 1952 and a set of Custom Service buttons. Kisby originally joined the Seaforth Highlanders and went out to Malaya with them in 1947 as the Malayan Emergency was about to erupt. When his service period with the Seaforth Highlanders ended, Kisby immediately joined the Malayan Police Force as a Police Lieutenant. The Police were heavily involved in anti-Communist activity, and were fighting in all the forward jungle zones. Kisby was sent out to the Kuala Seangor area; the majority of the Special Constables under him were Muslim, Kisby was one of a handful of Western Police Lieutenants that took the incredible step of changing religions. Becoming a Muslim, Kisby changed his name to Ismail bin Abdullah, much to the pleasure of the Special Constables in his charge. As the Malayan Emergency came to an end, many Police Lieutenants looked for another appropriate service to move into. Some went to Nigeria and Kisby was obvously one of them, since he obtained the Nigerian Independance Medal of 1960. We are still undertaking research on Kisby and hope to find out more about this interesting individual. Anyone interested in the Malayan Emergency should concider purchasing the publication 'Jungle Beat' by Roy Follows (Eye Publications 1999), which details the jungle operations undertaken by Malayan Police Officers.
